Began his professional life as a teacher serving as a Deputy Headteacher at two secondary schools in Warwickshire before changing direction and moving into project management. After five years working for the Church in Wales, a charity was established to launch and develop Religious Tourism in Wales with John as a central figure. Simultaneously John was the coordinator of the European Cultural Tourism Network working with more than a dozen European countries. Sport has been central to life outside work, playing first class rugby in Wales, later representing the town of Rugby at cricket and playing squash in the top leagues in Leicestershire. John is excited by the potential of HFS helping to enable more people to benefit from and contribute to sport in the UK.
Harris has been a trustee for Here For Sport since 2019, having had a passion for sport since a young age and competing across various disciplines. Currently a student at St Andrews, studying International Relations and Psychology, ne has been part of several social enterprise initiatives. This has given him invaluable insight into running charitable initiatives within challenging contexts. With the current epidemic, initiatives have been even more challenging to execute and 2021 will likely be a difficult year for all businesses.
