The International Swimming League (ISL) will officially return to competitive swimming this December, hosting a high-stakes “All-Star Match” in London following a four-year operational hiatus.
The team-based professional league, which launched in 2019 to provide commercial racing opportunities for world-class swimmers between Olympic cycles, was put on pause in 2022 following political and financial restructuring. Organizers have confirmed that the London event will feature a record prize purse for a single-night swimming competition, featuring top Olympic and World Championship medalists.
Announcing the league’s relaunch in London, ISL Commissioner Ben Allen told City A.M.:
“The All-Star Match is the moment swimming has been waiting for: the world’s best athletes, back on the ISL stage.”
The ISL previously sparked major structural changes across international swimming after challenging World Aquatics (then FINA) over athlete commercial rights and event independence. Former editions featured stars such as Adam Peaty, Caeleb Dressel, and Katinka Hosszú. Full roster details and specific prize distribution limits for the December London match are expected to be finalized next month.
